We are a community in which Christ is the centre, the beginning and the end. We believe in the importance of living and proclaiming Jesus Christ as the only One who can give true value and meaning to life. Through Him we can find life in all its abundance, its origins and destiny and its place and function in the world, a world which is lost, violent and unfair.
We share the life of Faith and we live with the hope of God’s Kingdom. We strive together for another world which is possible: that of worldwide fraternity, of love and forgiveness, fairness and peace. We work together to build a new church, one that is far from dogmatism and mutual excommunication. We are not against anybody nor do we condemn or exclude anybody. We share our problems and our findings with believers and non-believers and no one is discredited. We offer everybody our spiritual heritage and are willing to receive from everybody. The absolute truth is not a heritage of any human being.
We think for ourselves and allow people to think for themselves. We do not demand doctrinal commitments and believe that all expressions of faith have to be based on the Bible, but we do not condemn those who interpret it in a different way. We address each other in the love of Christ. Over the centuries, doctrines have divided and caused rifts among Christians. We believe it is time to put these doctrines in their secondary place in order to emphasise the importance of the love for Christ and for all mankind, faithfulness to the Word of God as we understand it and perseverance in following Jesus.
We believe in the importance of baptism as an outward sign of belief and faith and as a way of showing that they belong to the people of God. We invite everyone to Holy Communion where we get together round the Lord’s Table to partake in the bread and wine. We recognise that this is God’s table who lived and died for us and therefore cannot reject those who have been invited by Jesus Christ. Holy Communion is not for the Saints but for all those who are called by Jesus and accept His invitation to gather around the Table of forgiveness and reconciliation.
We live with the hope of God’s Kingdom, which one day He will establish permanently amongst us. There will be a new heaven and a new earth in which justice will reign. There will be no more weeping or pain. Everything that is old will be finished over and everything will be new. But while we await for this day with joy, we have undertaken with the Lord Jesus and with our brothers and sisters in Christ, to make a continuous effort to transform our world and so turn our hope into reality, in accordance with what the Gospels say.
